We are geeked to have Unkle Chip rock with us this Blapisode. He’s literally booked all the time but we got lucky this Friday. He’s definitely one of the most consistent DJ’s we go out to check for in NY. If you don’t know who he is, check him out at the More Than Enough Parties thrown at LPR every other Saturday and peep his mixes on his soundcloud.
Unkle Chip is hands down the most aesthetically inclined DJ we’ve listened to. On top of that, he’s a part of NY/NJ’s illest DJ Crew - The Elite Camp. His knowledge of overall music is shown in all of his sets. Unkle Chip bows down to no one and you end up changing your list of favorite songs in the process. Influential indeed by his very nature.

Kev Brown’s soulful style of production has earned him comparisons to revered producers such as Pete Rock, who incidentally helped Brown’s career gain some momentum after being introduced to him through Grap Luva. (Petes brother) The pair then went on to collaborate on “What Ruling Means”, from Marley Marl’s BBE Beat Generation installment Re-Entry (2001). His appearance alongside Grap Luva left an impression on the underground and he subsequently contributed a track to De La Soul’s AOI: Bionix later that year.
Kev Brown continued to build his resume with contributions to DJ Jazzy Jeff’s “The Magnificent” (2002). As a then-member of Jazzy Jeff’s production-for-hire unit A Touch Of Jazz, Brown contributed no less than 7 tracks to the project yet it wasn’t until his remix of Jay-Z’s The Black Album, aptly titled “The Brown Album” was released in January, 2004 that he began to receive recognition.
As the first producer to do so (to date there are more than 100 submitted remixes of the project), Brown made use of Jay-Z’s starpower and commercial appeal.
After numerous productions and collaborations with artists throughout 2003 and 2004, Brown made his debut in 2005 with “I Do What I Do” through the independent Up Above imprint. The single, “Life’s A Gamble”, followed in early 2006. Among current projects is “Random Joints”(re-released in 2012 with extra bonus material), 2012 also marks the beginning of the Low Budget Records imprint with a partnership with ReDefinition Records.

Anthony Marshall co-founded “LYRICIST LOUNGE” in 1991 at the age of 16. What started out as five MCs hanging out in a rehearsal room soon turned into one of Hip Hop’s most respected brands. Over time, Mr. Marshall would establish the Lyricist Lounge as a blueprint for discovering emerging Hip Hop MCs. Through several Lyricist Lounge branded albums, DVDs, tours, and television opportunities, artists such as Mos Def, Eminem, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, Slick Rick, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Notorious B.I.G., Q-Tip, Common, The Roots, and the Black Eyed Peas all became a part of its respected history. In 1999, Mr. Marshall helped to develop a Hip Hop musical/comedy sketch show called “The Lyricist Lounge Show”. The concept was brought to MTV and the show became one of their highest rated programs.
In 2005, Anthony Marshall helped to launch “CURRENT TV” (Al Gore’s TV network) and the company’s VC2 (Viewer Created Content) initiative. His job was to manage a portfolio of film producers who consistently created content for the network. In 2010, Marshall joined GTM Inc (a Marketing and Advertising company) as an Executive Producer for the company where he helped to produce Web Content for Smirnoff. Later, he helped to develop a Branded Content reality television series about DJs, also funded by Smirnoff, called MASTER OF THE MIX. The show enjoyed two seasons on both BET and is now returning for a 3rd season on VH1.
