ABOUT BLAP:
Most beat battles and producer showcases are tailored to industry professionals. Those who attend usually critique a producer on technical aspects of producing, but how would a general party crowd respond?

B.L.A.P. (Beats Love Alcohol Party) was created to answer that question. Take a group of producers - a couple of known veterans and a few undiscovered talents, put them in front of a party and tell them to play their beats - it's that simple. What separates B.L.A.P. from similar events is the interaction between the average music fan and the taste makers, as well as it's casual nature. Instead of the producers being judged by a panel of their peers, they are attempting to keep the crowd rocking.

There is no stage and patrons are encouraged to dance. For the party goer unaware of the scene it becomes a new experience. For the industry pro, the laid back atmosphere provides a more comfortable arena to network & find their next hit producer. Created in September of 2009 by !llmind, multi-platinum producer for artists like 50 Cent, Ludacris, Dr Dre & more, who knows who will show up for this event series. Soon enough, everyone will know at B.L.A.P.

Ways to Tune In

The world of music production is one of the fastest growing in the industry. Still, there are very few outlets providing information on how to achieve a lucrative career as a producer. With 13 + years experience, !llmind (Produced records for Kanye West, 50 Cent, Eminem, Common, 2 Chainz, Scarface, Redman and Many More) has assembled a team to help fill that void. How do I get record placements? What is my favorite producer using in the studio? What is publishing and why is it important? What schools cater best to becoming a producer?

The life blood of the music industry is based on knowing the right people. BLAP On The Radio serves to not only answer those questions, but also to provide valuable insight from some of today’s most important power players (Artist Manager, Lawyers, Major Label A&R’s, Beat Brokers, and more)

Music producers rarely get the recognition they deserve. We’re here to analyze the various beat making techniques of some of our favorite producers. From J Dilla’s drum swing, to J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League’s lush musical arrangements, we plan to cover it all. Gear talk, cool production techniques, engineering tips, and bangin’ beats are some of the things you can look forward to with BLAP On The Radio.

On October 2, 2012,
Skyzoo’s highly anticipated album
‘A Dream Deferred’ will be released on his recently established label
“The Faculty”, distributed through
Duck Down Music Inc.

The album has stand out production from the likes of !llmind, Jahlil Beats, 9th Wonder, Eric G, Focus, Black Milk, DJ Khalil, Best Kept Secret & Tall Black Guy.

‘A Dream Deferred’ features songs with Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, Freeway, Raheem Devaughn, Jared Evan, DJ Prince, and Jessy Wilson.

Skyzoo describes the cover, drawn by Chilean artist Fabian Ciraolo  (www.fabianciraolo.blogspot.com) as a perfect representation to what the album sounds like. Skyzoo goes on to explain that “the idea was to demonstrate the feel of being in a dream and I wanted the album to represent that visually as well. Fabian’s work contains his signature star speckled background on all of his designs, so it made sense to use him with the stars representing a dreamy atmosphere. He’s an incredible artist and did an excellent job of bringing the theme of the album to life.”

Skyzoo sums up the meaning behind the song:

“The idea behind Jansport Strings is not based on it being literal, but more so in the figurative sense. As a kid in NY, the strings on your Jansport bag were a sign of power and presence. Kids would steal the strings off of each other’s bags and burn the tips to prevent getting robbed of them once they got them. The song is a 3 minute auto-bio of me as a kid in Brooklyn and seeing more than my friends and I had bargained for. In essence, my Jansport strings tied it all together, seeing what we all saw and what it made us. The ending is a clip from Video Music Box, the legendary NYC video show run by DJ Ralph McDaniels. This episode in particular was the debut of Chi-Ali’s ‘Age Ain’t Nothin But A Number’. Seeing that video that day on this episode of VMB made me start rhyming. This clip was literally the moment that changed my life.” - Skyzoo
